[Re: Loose Cannon: The Chosen Channel, Direct Newsline, Jan. 31, 2005]: Manischewitz! Reminds me of Sister Mary teaching my third grade class at Holy Angels and the thermos of Manischewitz mom packed to ease my sore throat that morning so long ago. Unlike your early morning thoughts- after several long satisfying pulls on mom’s best I was led to the front of the class where my hands were firmly beaten with Sister Mary’s wooden ruler.

“The Chosen Channel”- I wonder. During my brief stint prior to the great implosion, I was expecting the chosen channel to become electronic. Prior to that I firmly believed in NASCAR and before that The Kentucky Derby.

Now I’m drifting back. Mail is controllable, ripe with history, room for creativity and it can be taken into the bathroom. Okay, can I BE THE ONLY ONE appreciating this? There is something quite wonderful about holding a piece of paper and even if it’s just my mortgage broker hoping I have made a decision to finally at long last buy something!

I would hate for our most favored channel to be compromised still more. There will be a point at which someone will be hauled to the front of the class and Sister Mary will be forced to take charge.

Great, great column, Richard!

One can only worry that Congress will listen to the President who loves to spend money and who thinks he is the spokesperson for God rather than listening to a God.

Enjoyed your column again!
