Kraft Names Winners in Oreo Jingle Contest

Kraft Foods has named a father-daughter duo as the winners of its latest Oreo cookie jingle contest.

Daniel Casey, 45 and Samantha Casey, 11, of Selma, NC, took home the $10,000 grand-prize in the “Oreo & Milk Jingle” contest. The team, called Samantha Casey & The Bluegrass Jam, was the first winner in the contest’s three-year history to use instruments as part of their jingle entry, the company said.

The winning jingle will be available on Oreo.com this month. Kraft does not plan to use the piece it in its advertising. The contest was designed more for consumer entertainment, a spokesperson said.

Visitors can hear the Caseys’ entry, along with four other finalists’ submissions on the Web site. People voted for the top five entries from a pool of 10 semi-finalists over the summer. Hundreds of people entered the contest, Kraft said.

The finalists traveled to New York last week to perform for judges. As part of the event, each team’s jingle was broadcast on a Times Square sign in New York City.

“Playing in Times Square with the other groups was really cool,” Samantha Casey said in a statement. “Our favorite part of the contest was seeing ourselves on the Times Square Super Sign.”
