Travelers who incur airline baggage fees on vacation departure flights can recoup some of that cost on arrival if their final destination is at a Kimpton Hotel.
The “We Got Your Bag” promotion gives guests a $25 credit on their bill toward the cost to check a second bag through an airline. The promotion runs through Sept. 9.
Guests present proof of the baggage charges when checking in to any of Kimpton’s 43 hotels in the U.S. and Canada to receive credit.
The hotel chain is looking to spawn some goodwill, along with increased occupancy rates the promotion might spark in what could be a relatively slow summer season in a recession.
“At Kimpton, we believe the small gestures go a long way,” Mike Depatie, president and CEO of Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants, said in a statement.
American Airlines, United, Continental, Delta and US Airways started charging passengers $25 for an additional bag last month. American also charges $15 for a single bag.
