Kellogg’s Pulls Breitbart Ads; Breitbart Wages Boycott
Kellogg’s has pulled its advertising from the controversial website Breitbart.com, run by Steve Bannon, President-elect Donald Trump’s pick for chief strategist.
The company said its values don’t jive with those of Breitbart, according to the BBC News. Kellogg’s said it was alerted to the ads by customers.
Kellogg’s is not alone. Other advertisers have also said they would not advertise on Breitbart.com, including Novo Nordisk, Warby Parker, Allstate and the San Diego Zoo.
In response, Breitbart has waged a social media war against Kellogg’s, calling for people to boycott the consumer packaged goods company using the hashtag #DumpKelloggs. An online petition to “Join the Movement Against Kellogg’s Bigotry,” that appears on the Breitbart site has drawn more than 140,000 signatures since being posted yesterday.
And, of course, social media can always provides a few laughs in the face of any controversy. One post on Reddit reads: “Breitbart is potentially a cereal killer.” Read the article …
