Premium beverage maker Jones Soda Co. has launched a tie-in promotion with the North American release of the latest version of Konami Digital Entertainment’s Karaoke Revolution videogame, in a campaign that will include retail and viral components and a large sweepstakes push.
From now until December 24, users can submit their names and contact information to register for a drawing to win the Karaoke GABA Sweepstakes. Grand prize in the drawing is a 42-inch plasma TV, a Nintendo Wii game console, a copy of Karaoke Revolution, and a year’s supply of Jones GABA energy drink, the company’s line of beverages enhanced with gamma-aminobutyric acid, said by Jones to enhance focus and mental acuity.
A first-prize winner will receive a copy of the game and a three-month supply of the soda, while a second-prize winner will get the game and a one-month supply.
Jones GABA packaging in 800 retail markets will feature stickers promoting ht sweepstakes. Street teams will also be promoting both Karaoke Revolution and Jones GABA in bars in New York, Los Angeles, Seattle, Boston and Chicago, and on 39 college campuses during the game sign-up phase.
“This partnership is the culmination of two companies sharing a vision of entertainment and high-energy social interactions in the name of fun,” Konami senior director of strategic marketing and partnerships Clara Baum said in a release.
“We are excited to be partnering with Konami and the Karaoke Revolution brand,” said Jones brand manager Josh Groff. “Jones GABA is the perfect concentration enhancing beverage for dedicated gamers singing their way to top scores.”
The current release of Karaoke Revolution is a reboot of a Japanese videogame franchise that had its first North American release back in 2003. The new version features customizable avatars and venues, a 16-player party mode, and a large selection of installed and downloadable content from artists as diverse as Rihanna, Lady Gaga and the Jackson 5.
