JCPenney Targets Shoppers with Rewards Program

Posted on

JCPenney Co. is giving frequent shoppers even more reasons to visit.

Last week it launched “JCP Rewards,” a new program that lets shoppers rack up points and discounts based on monthly in-store, online and catalog purchases. It’s the company’s first major rewards offering.

Members earn one point for every $1 spent, and receive a $10 reward after accumulating 250 points each month. Points can be earned on regular-priced or sale-priced merchandise. Up to $120 in rewards can be earned throughout the year.

Shoppers can also earn double points by using a registered credit card for purchases made during two or more consecutive months. Customers will receive 25% more points by using a store credit card, the company said.

Registration is available at www.jcprewards.com. Beyond points, customers who participate in the free program will also receive members-only e-mails offering savings and discounts.

JCPenney has offered discounts to store card holders in the past, and continues to do so. But this is the first program that is open to all shoppers, a company spokesperson said.

Credit card inserts, direct mail and in-store sigange support the program.
