Ever get lost in the miles of aisles at an IKEA? The Swedish-based furniture giant must have heard those distress calls from disoriented Krokodil fans. As an online stunt, they’re rolled out “The Smallest IKEA Store in the World”. Specifically, they’ve loaded 2,800 IKEA products into an online display ad that measures 10.5 centimeters by 8.8 cm.
In pixel terms, that’s 300 x 250. And that’s pretty damn small.
It’s a digital stunt, of course, meant to play upon IKEA’s tradition of space-saving designs. Users can mouse—very carefully—over the ad’s five segments for seats, beds, lamps, accessories and miscellaneous to find the icon of an item, then click on it to bring up a product page, read a description and place an online order.
The ad, which has been running for a few weeks on German web sites aimed at renters and studio and small apartment dwellers, points to the German version of the IKEA site, so to shop it you’ll have to turn on a translation function. But shop it you indubitably can, as this video demonstrates.

No word on if/when the ad will be rolled out in North American markets, or why you can’t order the meatballs or lingonberry jam through it. (Or perhaps I just don’t have the right mouse control?)
