HSN, Dreyers/Edy’s Serve Up Birthday Celebration

HSN, formerly the Home Shopping Network, is celebrating its 28th birthday with the sweet treat of ice cream as part of a new month-long promotion with Dreyers Grand Ice Cream, Inc.

Consumer who tune in
to HSN can walk away
with free ice cream

Starting July 6, viewers who tune-in to the network during the month can win a family-size carton of Dreyer’s and Edy’s Slow Churned Light Ice Cream. To obtain the free offer, viewers must watch HSN each night from 8 p.m. to midnight ET when HSN show hosts taste-test various flavors of Dreyer’s and Edy’s light ice cream live on the network.

At the end of the tasting, viewers will see a secret key word of the day and will be directed to log on to HSN.com. The first 1,000 people to enter the special key word into the site’s search engine will receive a certificate good for a complimentary 1.75-quart carton of Dreyer’s and Edy’s Slow Churned Light Ice Cream.

“We all know that no birthday celebration is complete without ice cream,” said Michael Rudich, director of strategic alliances for HSN. “This is a way for us to show our love for our customers.”

HSN will promote the ice cream giveaway with on air and Internet support. HSN will giveaway 1,000 ice cream certificates each night of the contest. Consumers living east of the Rockies will receive certificates for Edy’s ice cream; consumers to the west will receive certificates for Dreyer’s ice cream.

To further celebrate its 28th birthday, St. Petersburg, FL-based HSN is offering consumers a chance to win $500 to spend on their HSN wish list. Shoppers who create a wish list on HSN’s Web site are automatically entered into a drawing to win $500 “Spendable Ka$h” on the site.

The sweepstakes is open to consumers 18 and older and runs through July 31. Drawings take place daily. Internet materials support.
