Big-name brands are boosting the holiday spirit with rebate offers tied to Classic Media’s re-release of animated Christmas DVDs, including Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Santa Claus is Comin’ To Town, Frosty the Snowman, The Legend of Frosty the Snowman, Mr. Magoo’s Christmas Carol and Cricket on the Hearth.

More than 2 million packages of Hostess Twinkies, Cup Cakes and HoHoHos will carry a $3 mail-in rebate toward the purchase of the Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer DVD and two Hostess multipack products. Each will include limited edition packaging featuring characters from the film.

Kansas City-based Interstate Baking Corp. teamed with Classic Media, the owner of 1964 animated classic, to keep the brand relevant and fresh.

“With more and more snack choices available to consumers, it is important that our products continue to generate the same excitement that has made Hostess snacks among the most popular products in America for generations,” said Kevin Kaul, marketing director for Hostess.

The company is promoting the offer online at HostessCakes.com, as well as via in-store displays. It ends Dec. 16. Norm Marshall Entertainment, Los Angeles, handles the promotion for Hostess.

Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill and Bar is out with an in- restaurant promotion supporting The Legend of Frosty the Snowman DVD. The company has created 5 million movie-themed kids meal activity books and cups to support the campaign. Each book includes a $2 coupon off the DVD.

The campaign ends Dec. 31. Table tents and stickers support the promotion, which Applebee’s handles in-house.

Likewise, Keebler and Kellogg are offering a $6 mail-in rebate with the purchase of the Christmas Classic DVDs and a Keebler Holiday cookie or Kellogg’s Rice Krispies Treat product. Keebler, which is touting the promotion with thousands of in-store displays, handles the campaign in-house.

Quaker will offer a $5 mail-in rebate toward the purchase of one holiday title on 1 million limited edition boxes of Cap’n Crunch Cereal. Davie Brown Entertainment in Santa Monica, CA, handles the promotion.

Sargento will promote the Rudolph, Frosty and Santa Claus DVD titles on more than 1 million of its cracker and cheese snack packs and via 10,000 retail displays. The company will offer a $3 mail-in rebate with each product purchased toward the three holiday movies.

Langston Communications, Atlanta, handles the effort for Sargento.
