Hilton Auctions A Trip to the Tony Awards

Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

Members of Hilton’s HHonors loyalty program had an opportunity to spend their points in an auction to win a trip to the Tony Awards in New York City and designate a charity to receive the money from the winning bid.

Starting May 15, HHonors members could bid on a package that included two tickets to the Tony Awards on June 15, a two-night deluxe stay at the Hilton New York and two tickets to “Young Frankenstein” at the Hilton Theatre on June 14. Bids could be posted at www.hiltonhonors.com

“Hilton Hotels is always looking for a unique ways to engage our customers and new ways to spend their points,” said Hilton spokesperson Erika White.

The winner could designate one of 20 charitable organizations participating in the Hilton HHonors Giving Back program to receive a dollar amount based on the bidding points.

No word on the number of HHonors members who placed a bid, or what the bid range was. Bidding concluded on May 23, with the winner to be notified by e-mail shortly thereafter.

Hilton has been active with similar auctions, a concept it created in the past year. The hotel chain recently ran an auction for the prize of a trip to New York City and tickets to the premiere of Martin Scorcese’s “Shine A Light” concert documentary about the Rolling Stones.

Hilton is actively seeking more experiences to put up for auction, as well as more charitable organizations as partners for its Giving Back program, White said. She indicated that other, similar auctions would occur this year.

Hilton publicized the auction in e-mails to HHonors members, on the Hilton Honors site, and in its “My Way” newsletter to HHonors participants.

Hilton HHonors guest rewards program offers points and travel miles to earn credits for future Hilton stays and frequent flyer programs.
