Groupon Adds ‘Nearby’ Feature for Its iPad App, Plans to Focus on Tablets in 2013

Posted on

GrouponGroupon recently unveiled an updated version of its Groupon HD iPad app. One of the new features is a “Nearby” tab, which gives users the ability to explore Groupon deals filtered by proximity and category. “The Nearby service is more than just being out and about,” said David Katz, vice president of mobile. “It’s about taking advantage of deals wherever you are, and so if you’re using the app close to home or at work it makes just as much sense as the service on the phone.” He also noted that the iPad was one of the more popular devices used to access Groupon deals on the go, and that in 2013 the company is set to put more emphasis on tablets.
