Golf Galaxy Adds To Dick’s Sporting Goods Third Quarter

Dick’s Sporting Goods Inc. reported net sales of $838.8 million during its third quarter, up from $708.3 million a year ago. The company’s net income jumped from $7.8 million to $12.3 million for the quarter ending Nov. 3 of this year.

The Pittburgh-based firm’s fortunes were boosted by its Feb. 13 acquisition of Golf Galaxy, which provided catalog and e-commerce operations, along with additional retail outlets, to Dick’s Sporting Goods. The company also opened 246 Dick’s Sporting Goods stores during the year. Comparable store sales rose 2%.
