The Gatorade Co. is leveraging its longtime relationship with basketball great Michael Jordan to commemorate the star’s induction this fall into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
A Limited Edition Jordan Series of Gatorade Thirst Quencher will hit store shelves anytime now and be available until supplies last. Six commemorative bottles will be sold.
The beverage features three new flavors to represent Jordan’s career then, now and forever. There are six variations in all, and each tells a portion of the Jordan story through pictures and words.
For example, Then-Championship Blue, celebrates Jordan’s early rise to stardom. Now-Championship Gold is based on Jordan’s favorite Gatorade flavor, the company said.
“From its role fueling Michael Jordan on the court to the unforgettable ‘Be Like Mike’ ad campaign, Gatorade was as much a part of Michael’s game as his explosive leaps or his trademark fade-away,” said Sarah Robb O’Hagan, chief marketing officer for Gatorade, a division of PepsiCo, in a release.
“Michael’s Hall of Fame induction is the latest ‘G’ moment in a career filled with them, and fans will certainly want to have a piece of history by collecting all six of these commemorative bottles.”
