Franklin Mint Launches Campaign For Presidential Medallions

Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

The Franklin Mint has launched a new campaign promoting a new series of presidential medals starting with space advertising and FSIs, which be followed up with promotions in its spring catalog and possibly direct mail later.

For the last several years the company has focused mostly on die cast model car collectibles and foreign coins and medallions. This represents a new emphasis on U.S. medallions, said Gwynne Gorr, vice president of marketing and product development.

Interest in U.S. coins and medallions has increased following the introduction of commemorative quarters for each of the states by the U.S. Mint, Gorr said.

The company plans to introduce several new products in early 2007, including sculptures, collectible dolls and commemorative coins, besides re-issuing some classic products.

“One of our goals in purchasing The Franklin Mint is to reinvigorate the company’s powerful and historic coin and medallic art business,” said in a statement M. Moshe Malamud, chairman of The Franklin Mint.

The Franklin Mint was acquired last year from Roll International Corp. by a group of private investors led by Malamud and Steven J. Sisskind.
