Federated Readies Regional Management

Federated Department Stores last week announced its senior management lineup as the retail giant digests its August purchase of The May Department Stores Co.

The slate shifts around current regional executives across Macy’s and May-owned retail chains. The promotions take effect Feb. 1, 2006:

Daniel Edelman becomes president-COO of Macy’s West, San Francisco; he has been chairman-CEO of Macy’s Northwest, Seattle.

Jeff Gennette replaces Edelman as chairman-CEO of Macy’s Northwest; he has been executive VP-director of stores at Macy’s Central, Atlanta.

Frank Guzzetta becomes chairman-CEO of Macy’s North, Minneapolis; he has been president-CEO of Marshall Field’s, Minneapolis.

Robert Soroka becomes president-COO of Macy’s North; he has been chairman of Marshall Field’s.

Robert Harrison becomes president-COO of Macy’s Northwest; he has been chairman of Robinsons-May, Los Angeles.

Andrew Pickman becomes president-chief merchandising officer of Macy’s South, Atlanta; he has been president-CEO of Foley’s, Houston.

Michael Krauter become vice chairman-director of stores at Macy’s South; he has been president-chief merchandising officer of Macy’s Central.

John Harper becomes vice chairman-director of stores at Macy’s Midwest, St. Louis; he has been chairman of Hecht’s/Strawbridge’s, Philadelphia.

Federated earlier announced the appointments of William McNamara as chairman-CEO and Brian Keck as president-COO at new division Macy’s Midwest.

“By retaining experienced executives from The May Co. and combining their skills with Federated’s existing division leadership, we will strengthen our Macy’s divisions as we grow to serve customers in new geographic regions across the country,” said Federated President-CEO Terry Lundgren in a statement.
