Facebook Will Be Disrupted by a Mobile-First Startup, According to 66% of Mobile Developers

Facebook phoneA report from Appcelerator surveyed 5,526 mobile developers and found that 66 percent of them think it is “likely to very likely” that Facebook will be disrupted by a mobile-first social media startup. Appcelerator tells enterprises to pay attention. “Mobile has the power to reshape entire industries, and these changes can be swift,” according to the company. But is it really that inevitable? The idea of a mobile-first social network pushing Facebook off its throne is nice, but just look at Path, for example. Instagram has been successful, but it used Facebook to grow. “Social networks are about critical mass. Mobile has long surpassed critical mass. Mobile-first is nowhere near.” (The Next Web)
