Facebook Now Testing Paid Promoted Posts for Users in the U.S.

Posted on

FacebookFacebook began testing a feature allowing its users to pay to promote their posts in New Zealand back in May. Now it’s opening up the test to users in the U.S. The feature allows Facebook users with fewer than 5,000 friends and subscribers to pay about $7 to promote a post. After paying for the promotion, the post would appear higher in News Feeds and would appear in more of the user’s friends. Posts that are not promoted typically reach 12-16 percent of a user’s friends. These promoted posts will be marked “Sponsored” and will show the promoter how many more friends saw it because of the promotion. This could be nice for Facebook’s revenues, but there’s an obvious risk here. (TechCrunch)
