Facebook Is Testing a ‘Want’ Button With Retailers

Posted on

Facebook logoEarlier reports about a “want” button on Facebook have finally been substantiated. The social network is working with retailers in a test of a feature called “collections,” which will enable users to create wish lists of products, including home furnishings and clothing. Victoria’s Secret and Pottery Barn are among seven retailers in the test, which includes a new feature that allows users to click a “want” button to flag images of desired products. “Collections” will appear on companies’ Facebook pages, and when a user “collects” or “likes” a product, it’s placed into a Timeline called “products.” Products that are “wanted” are placed into a user’s wish list. Even if the product doesn’t have a full rollout, this test will give Facebook a valuable glimpse into how consumers interact with products and give the company a direct line from online interactions to purchases that sites like Pinterest don’t have.
