European Parliament Balks at Sharing Plane Passenger Data

The European Parliament said an agreement to share data with Washington on passengers flying to the U.S. violates European Union privacy laws and threatened to go to court to block it, according to wire service reports.

The vote came a day after European Union ministers overcame similar privacy concerns and agreed to give their own law enforcement authorities access to more limited passenger data.

To combat terrorism, Washington has demanded airlines headed for the U.S. transmit extensive passenger information
