Entertainment.com, a Web site and offline publisher that creates discount-coupon books targeted to specific cities, has come up with a list of the most popular U.S. travel destinations in 2009 based on purchases of its content.

According to the company, online multi-book purchases of geo-targeted editions of the 2009 Entertainment coupon book indicate that the nation’s leading travel destination this year has been Orlando FL, followed by San Francisco and then San Diego CA.

Visitors to the Web site can enter the zip code of a given geographic area and find a book of discounts, promotions and offers specific to merchants in that area. Most of the Entertainment books retail for $35 to $40. Users can also pay $5 a month for a site membership and get access to all the in-market discounts along with other offers from national retailers.

The rest of the 10 top travel destinations for Enterttainment.com users, in order, are:

  • New York NY
  • Hawaii
  • Orange County CA
  • Las Vegas NV
  • Ft. Myers/ Naples FL
  • Phoenix AZ
  • Washington DC

“Stay-cations are fine, but play-cations are often more fulfilling,” Entertainment Publications CEO MaryAnn Rivers said in a release.
The 2010 entertainment Book, containing offers and discounts for travel including museums, attractions, car rental agencies, airlines and more than 35,000 worldwide hotels and resort6s, is due to publish this month.
