Eight O’Clock Coffee Seeks Input on New Look

Eight O’Clock is marking its 150th anniversary with a facelift, and is asking its customers to help decide the new look.

Visitors can vote on the brand’s two new package designs—a black bag featuring a coffee cup or a white bag with coffee beans—for a chance to win a year’s worth of groceries valued at $5,000.

People who vote are automatically entered into a sweepstakes that offers two first-prize winners a $500 Bed Bath & Beyond gift card for a bedroom makeover. Lesser prizes include Spafinder and Sephora gift cards and free bags of Eight O’Clock coffee. The sweepstakes runs through March 15.

Entrants can also play an instant-win game by clicking on an interactive spinner to see if they have won a prize. Eight O’Clock coffee will unveil its new design on March 16, the company said.

The promotion marks the first time the company is seeking consumer input on its packaging.

Eight O’Clock Coffee features a line of gourmet coffee flavors in ground and whole bean varieties. The coffee was ranked No. 1 in a Consumer Reports test of 19 ground coffees, beating out Folgers, Maxwell House and Starbucks, respectively.

Online marketing and PR, support the promotion. EPrize is handling the sweepstakes and S3, the brand’s PR agency of record, is handling the campaign.
