Editor’s Note: Moving Day

Recently, I've been thinking a lot about moving house.

Not me personally. I calculated a few years ago that I've had 24 legal residences so far, and that was two addresses ago. This rolling stone is at rest, at least for the moment, and enjoying the inertia.

And it's not the calendar that has me thinking about relocation, although that plays a part. Chicago has an odd tradition that recognizes two house-moving time windows: the first weeks in April/ May, and then the first weeks in September/October. No one knows where this tradition comes from or why it persists. But if you move at any other time, the neighbors basically assume you're on the run from the law.

No, the reason moving day has been on my mind right now is that Chief Marketer has a newly redesigned web site and a new online integration with the former standalone PROMO site. We have shifted all our content to a single site and organized it to be more easily found both by marketing discipline (social, promo, web, B2B, etc.) and by specific topics that cross platforms (loyalty, lead generation, coupons and so on.)

We think this content system just makes more sense for the way marketing happens today. Boundary lines between channels are being blurred. Campaigns or promotions that wind up at a web site or store counter may have started out with an email, text message, mail piece or street event, and might have incorporated a QR code, behavioral ad or streamed video content along that path to purchase. Our new web site embodies that convergence by making it easier to link to all our relevant content, whether from Chief Marketer or Promo.

We're pretty house-proud of our new home. And we'd like you to tour it and see what we've done with the place. As with every move, it's important to make sure the good stuff travels with you. PROMO's PRO Awards competition for the year's best campaigns is open for submissions right now, and we're also opening the books on the PROMO 100 ranking of the top promotional marketing agencies by revenue. While you're at the new site, click on those links under the "Promo" tab and get your brand or agency some glory.

So if you have not yet done so, please pay a visit to our new site. Don't knock, just come on in. We're always home.
