eBay is Top Paid Search Term

Hitwise recently reported the top search terms for the month of August in the U.S. “eBay” and “eBay.com” were the top two search terms.

“eBay” was the recipient of 0.12% of all paid clicks , while “eBay.com” attracted 0.02% of all clicks. “Home Depot” was third with 0.02%, followed by “Map quest” with 0.01%, and “People Search” with 0.01%.

“MySpace” was the top organic search term with 0.78% of all organic clicks in August, followed by “Craigslist” with 0.42%. “MySpace.com” was third with 0.29%, while “YouTube” attracted 0.26% of all organic clicks, and “eBay” was fifth with 0.23%.

Hitwise also indicates that for the four weeks ending August 30, 2008, the Shopping – Office Supplies category received 43.15% of all paid search traffic, an 8% increase from July’s 39.81%.

Travel – Agencies was second, attracting 35.32% of all paid search traffic, a 10% decline from July’s 39.28%. Business – Telecommunications was third with 30.97% of all paid search traffic, an 8% uptick from July’s 28.77%.

Business – Legal was fourth with 30.72%, a 5% decline from July’s 32.18%, followed by Pharmaceutical and Medical Products, which attracted 30.43% of all paid search traffic, a 2% increase from July’s 29.95%.
