Dunkin’ Donuts Makes Tax Time Sweeter

Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

Tax season got you down? Dunkin’ Donuts is coming to the rescue, offering a little respite from the grueling task of last-minute tax filing. This week, Dunkin Donuts is bringing accountants to customers via a new promotion.

In select locations in New York and Philadelphia, Dunkin’ Donuts is inviting customers to drop off their paperwork and chat with an H&R Block representative. Consumers who visit the shops with their paperwork will be entered into a sweeps to have their taxes processed for free.

H&R Block drop-off centers will be available from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. through April 8 at the Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants at 1225 1st Avenue and 289 7th Avenue in New York, and at 1401 South 10th St. in Philadelphia.

“Most people usually wait until the last minute to do their taxes,” said Louise McCulloch, manager-global communications, for Dunkin’ Donuts. “We just wanted to do something to take the drudgery out of something people really hate doing, and do something they do love—going to Dunkin’ Donuts.”

Next week, the QSR plans to set up shop in select H&R Block offices in New York, New Jersey and Philadelphia, serving hot coffee and donuts for customers. That promotion will run from 9 to 11 a.m. and from 3 to 6 p.m.

Dunkin Donuts will award $500 gift certificates for tax services to one consumer during each day of the promotion via a random drawing. P-O-P and p.r. materials support.

“[We] are pairing something nice to something that isn’t so palatable,” McCulloch said. “It’s a fun way to get taxes done painlessly and have a little fun and a cup of coffee out. It’s a nice combination.”
