Doublemint, NBA Team Up to Fight Child Abuse

Posted on

Wrigley’s Doublemint brand has launched its second campaign to fight child abuse with Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard as the point man for the effort.

The campaign is aimed at raising funds for Prevent Child Abuse America, a national working to stop the abuse and neglect of children. Wrigley and NBA Cares, the National Basketball Association’s social responsibility arm, will donate $250 to PCA America each time an NBA player records a double-double – a double-digit total in two statistical categories in a single game – up to $20,000.

Howard is the current NBA career leader in double-doubles.

The “Doublemint Gum Double-Double Challenge” will tip off in April with the Wrigley brand inviting fans to participate with donations.

Between now and April 15, Doublemint is running a “Leaders of the Pack” promotion in the form of a sweepstakes. Specially marked Slim Packs of Doublemint gum and other Wrigley brands will bear a player’s name with a code. Fans can enter the code online for a shot at free playoff tickets and other prizes.

The grand prize is two tickets to an NBA Finals game, dinner with an NBA legend and $600 in NBA store gift store cards. The second prize is tickets to an NBA conference championship series, dinner with an NBA legend and $500 in NBA store gift cards. More than 4,000 instant winners will receive $100 or $25 NBA store gift cards.

“Doublemint is once again proud to support its ongoing commitment to PCA America through the Double-Double Challenge,” said Paul Chibe, Wrigley’s vice president of consumer marketing, North American gum.
