DMDNY has separated into two entities. One is DMD Marketing Conference and Expo–New York, a for-profit organization, which puts on the spring show in New York. The other is a nonprofit, the Direct Marketing Day Foundation Inc., which promotes direct marketing education.
The reason for the split is to focus more fully on the mission of each portion. The conference has grown from a luncheon 36 years ago to a four-day expo that draws executives from around the world, according to a statement put out by the organization.
Chuck Cavanagh is the president of the DMD Marketing Conference and Expo. The foundation heads are Lee Epstein, chairman and president, and Jim Prendergast, executive director.
The 36th annual DMD Marketing Conference & Exposition New York will take place May 21 to 24 at the New York Hilton & Towers.
In other DMD Marketing News, Thomas O. Ryder, CEO of the Reader’s Digest Association Inc., will be named Direct Marketer of the Year at a ceremony on May 23.
Speakers at the conference this spring include Roger Blackwell, an expert in consumer behavior, whose talk is titled, “E-Commerce: Strategies for Competing in a .com World”; Mark Victor Hansen, the author of the “Chicken Soup for the Soul” series; and Mike Vance, known for his books and lectures on thinking “Out of the Box.”
