July is the month that sees the most traffic to travel related Web sites. According to recent numbers released by Hitwise, all but one of the top 10 most visited travel destinations in July was a theme park.

During the four weeks ending July 28, 2007, "Disneyland" was the most searched for destination sending traffic to travel Web sites and was 56th most searched for travel term. "Six flags" was second on the list, followed by "Cedar point."

"Las vegas" was fourth, and the only destination on the list that was not a theme park. "Disney world," "hershey park," "wisconsin dells," "universal studios," "Dollywood," and "Kings island" rounded out the top 10 list.

The research was conducted by analyzing data gleaned from a sample of 10 million users for the four weeks specified in the study.

Most Americans searched for travel destinations that were close to home and usually within driving range.

For example, 56.7% of the visits to Disneyland’s Web site came from users in California, while 65% of the visits to Hershey Park’s site came from Web users in Pennsylvania, New York, or New Jersey.
