Disney.com is seeking to fuel thoughts of fantasy vacations with a month-long sweepstakes for a trip to a Disney theme park.
Part of the Year of a Million Dreams’ at Disney Parks, the Dreams Come True sweepstakes offers contestants a shot at five Disney Parks vacations. Disney fans can enter once each day through February at www.Disney.com/Dreams, with an assurance that they’ll win a virtual prize each time, even if they don’t ultimately hit the jackpot.
“What we wanted to do was extend the opportunity around the country for people to win an amazing dream,” said Petrina Walker, vice president of marketing for Disney Online.
Each person filing an entry wins a digital prize: A virtual Mickey Mouse bobble head, a Disney Princess snow globe, a Hannah Montana clock or a vintage Disney characters calendar.
The grand prize is a trip to Disneyland in Anaheim, including one night in the Disneyland Dream Suite, adorned with special designs based on a conception of Walt Disney’s intended as an apartment for his family and friends. Two family trips to Disneyland and Disney World in Orlando are among the prize packages.
Timing of the promotion aims at playing on daydreams people have about vacation during the dreary days of February, when they would probably be spending more time online, Walk said.
In addition to Disney.com, the contest is getting plugs on the theme park sites and in ads on several other Web sites.
