Discovery Channel Takes a Bite Out of Shark Week

For its annual Shark Week programming block, the Discovery Channel is taking the sharks to the pavement and the pools in four major markets.

cars, surfboards and trashcans with giant shark chomp marks. The objects are in high traffic areas such as Times Square and Grand Central Terminal in New York City and the Santa Monica Pier and Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles and carry "Shark Week is Back" messaging with tune-in information.

A 6,500-square-foot decal at the bottom of the wave pool at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas also plugs the programming. Shark Week, in its 16th year, runs on the Silver Spring, MD-based Discovery Channel Aug. 10 to 17. Interference, Inc., New York City, handles.
