In an effort to boost its breakfast business, Denny’s is offering free Grand Slam Breakfast to customers who visit its restaurants between 6 a.m. and 2 p.m. today.
The breakfast includes pancakes, eggs, bacon strips and sausage links. Introduced in 1977, the meal is one of Denny’s best-selling menu items, the company said.
The casual dining chain promoted the free offer Sunday during the third quarter of the Super Bowl. Customers on Tuesday can also add two menu items for 99 cents each. About 2 million consumers are expected to take advantage of the free breakfast, a Denny’s spokesperson said.
In addition to breakfast, Denny’s will hand out a coupon booklet to each guest offering discounts off meals and free menu items with in-restaurant purchases.
“This free offer is our way of re-acquainting America with Denny’s real breakfast and with the Denny’s brand,” Nelson Marchioli, Denny’s CEO said in a statement.
TV spots, online marketing, e-mail blasts and a print ad in USA Today support the promotion.
