Coupons Delivered to TV Sets Via a Click of the Remote

Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

DRM Labs has developed Voupon iTV, an interactive system that lets TV watchers use and redeem coupons—almost—from their couches.

Here how it works: When a consumer is watching an interactive commercial that offers a percent or dollar off discount Voupon for a specific product at a specific retailer, the consumer can accept the Voupon by using their remote. The Voupon gets attached to the consumer’s registered credit card or inputs their credit card information at the time, the company said.

Once the Voupon is registered, the consumer heads to the store, buys the product using the registered credit or debit card and the Voupon is automatically redeemed with the discount credited to the cardholder’s account.

“We see iTV as the next frontier in direct response,” said Jeff Mankoff, president of DRM Labs, Inc., Atlanta, in a statement. “By using the ubiquitous credit card, Voupon iTV eliminates postage and printing fulfillment costs. But more importantly, because Voupon iTV redemption is tied directly to the credit card, advertisers now can track their TV and ROI, even if that purchase is made at a brick and mortar.”
