COKE, BLOCKBUSTER STRIKE GLOBAL PARTNERSHIP

Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

Blockbuster, Inc. and Coca-Cola Co. yesterday announced a five-year global marketing and product alliance that will give the soda giant increased exposure in the retailer’s 8,000 stores.

The multi-million dollar deal gives Atlanta-based Coke TV spots and other content on Blockbuster’s in-store network; opportunity to offer coupons through the chain’s Freebie point-of-sale service; and participation in Dallas-based Blockbuster’s direct-mail programs to Rewards members and general shoppers.

The two companies will also partner on several national marketing campaigns. The first is a Steal the Scene instant-win promotion breaking this week on 90 million Diet Coke bottles sold in Blockbuster stores and in 1,400 movie theaters. The top winner scores a walk-on role in a movie; other prizes include Club Med vacations, DVD players, and free movie rentals. TV spots support.
