After a 10-year separation, Christie Brinkley is back as the face of CoverGirl cosmetics.
Brinkley, even at 51, is all-American beauty and a natural choice to pitch CoverGirl’s new anti-aging Advanced Radiance Compact Foundation, the company said. The Advanced Radiance line is a new segment for CoverGirl and targets women 30 and older.
Brinkley had been the face of CoverGirl products for nearly 20 years before splitting in 1996. In new reports, Brinkley called the parting of ways “amiable.”
“The Advanced Radiance line is about advanced makeup that delivers beautiful radiance. No one exudes that look quite like Christie,” said Anne Martin, VP-global cosmetics, Procter & Gamble, in a statement. “Her fresh, flawless skin and carefree smile, which made her a perfect fit with CoverGirl back in the ’70s, epitomizes Advanced Radiance.
P&G approached Brinkley earlier this year about the deal.
Print and TV ads started last week.
In addition to the CoverGirl brand, P&G’s $8 billion global beauty business includes Pantene, Olay, SK-II, Max Factor, Joy, Hugo Boss, Herbal Essences and Clairol Nice ‘n Easy.
