Cheesecake Factory Celebrates 30 Years with Naming Contest

Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

The Cheesecake Factory is promoting its 30th anniversary with a contest that asks patrons to name the next cheesecake flavor for the menu.

Customers who visit through Feb. 28 can submit their fantasy cheesecake flavor using an interactive virtual cheesecake creator. People can watch their creation “bake” online. Each entry can include a video, song, poem or photo that expresses people’s passion for their work of art.

Judging will be based on the creative flavor combination and the originality of the multimedia submission. Five finalists in the “What’s Your Flavor?” contest will be selected on March 15 and those entries will be up for a public vote March 16-31. The top vote-getter will win a trip for two to the original Cheesecake Factory in Beverly Hills, CA, and have a chance to sample his or her winning creation. The winner will be named on April 1.

The Cheesecake Factory also plans to offer the new cheesecake flavor on its menu, and donate 25 cents from the sale of every slice of the winning flavor to Feeding America, a food bank network.

Also online, visitors can find their perfect cheesecake match with their personality by taking the “Flavor Match” survey. Once people complete the survey, their cheesecake match will be revealed and users can send it as e-card to friends and family.

The Cheesecake Factory is promoting the contest verbally in restaurants, online and through direct mail, e-mail blasts and radio spots. Razor and ePrize are handling the “What’s Your Flavor” promotion for the company.
