Burger King Names $1 Million Winner in Spidey Sweeps

It took only four hamburgers and two large drinks for an Indiana woman to walk away with $1 million in a recent Burger King’ contest tied to “Spider-Man 3.”

Carol Linville of Martinsville, IN, was Burger King’s grand-prize winner in its Which Spidey Suits You? game. In the contest, customers had to choose from one of two game pieces—a red and blue Spider-Man or the black-suited Spider-Man—from Burger King cups and menu items. Linville selected the black-suited character.

“I was just hoping for a free BK Stacker or some Chicken Fries,” Linville told Burger King. “I never imagined I’d win the million-dollar prize. In fact it still hasn’t quite sunk in yet.”

Linville will receive $50,000 annually for the next 20 years.

Other instant-win prizes included a 2007 Maserati Quattroporte Sport GT, a Sony Full HD Experience and free BK food items.

Burger King was one of a number of sponsors that partnered with Sony Pictures Entertainment to promote “Spider-Man 3,” including Kraft, 7-Eleven and Pringles (Promo, May 2007).
