Tools and giftware cataloger/retailer Brookstone Inc, Nashua, NH, reported a net loss of $4.6 million for the first quarter ended May 1, compared with a net loss of $4.4 million for the same quarter last year.
First fiscal quarter net sales increased 11% to $42.1 million from $37.9 million for the same period in 1998.
“With the acquisition of the Gardeners Eden catalog and our ability to market the catalog to Williams-Sonoma’s mailing list for the next three years, Brookstone’s position as a multi-channel gift giving solution is further fortified,” CEO Michael Anthony said in a statement.
