Blue Sky Factory Buys RSS Service

Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

E-mail service provider Blue Sky Factory announced it has acquired RSSFWD, a company that forwards RSS content feeds via e-mail technology.

RSSFWD is a free Web-based service that alerts opt-in subscribers to updates of their preferred blogs, podcasts and syndicated RSS feeds. The service converts RSS content into HTML e-mail format and sends update content to subscribers’ inboxes. Blue Sky says the service currently has more than 30,000 active and unique users and deploys 4 million e-mails monthly around the world.

Blue Sky will operate RSSFWD as a stand-alone service but will integrate some features into its e-mail marketing solution Publicaster.

“As today’s online and e-mail marketers seek more robust subscription control and preference solutions, we must develop and offer a solid set of tools that meet that demand,” said Greg Cangialosi, president of Baltimore-based Blue Sky Factory, in a release. “RSSFWD’s technologies enhance our ability to offer a more direct link to customers.”
