American Greetings Launches Caption Contest

Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

American Greetings is on the hunt for some clever-witted people to develop captions as part of an online contest.

People who think they have what it takes can submit their own copy for three photo cards at http://www.americangreetings.com/retailers/index.pd through May 11.

The three blank cards show a bulldog nosing a rubber ducky, two sitting naked babies and three older people sitting on a bench holding hands. Up to 20 captions can be submitted per person.

The “Think You’re Funny? Prove It” contest plays off American Greetings’ new Fun Pix collection, a line of funny photo cards. The offerings feature short and witty copy and a variety of humor styles.

Entries will be judged on humor and which captions best capture the spirit and essence of American Greetings’ Fun Pix collection of cards.

The winning caption will be printed on an American Greetings card and will be featured on AmericanGreetings.com. The winner will also receive $1,000 and their name may appear on the printed cards. Two runners up will have their caption featured on the site and will receive a one year subscription to AmericanGreetings.com.

In-store signage, tear off sheets and online marketing support the contest. American Greetings is handling the promotion in-house.
