American Express, Starwood Hotels Offer Comestibles Credit

Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

American Express and Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide are offering a food and beverage credit for Amex gold card members under a new program.

When American Express gold card members book reservations for two nights or more at more than 500 Starwood brands locations, they will receive a $75 food and beverage credit. It’s part of the Gold Card Destinations program.

Card members must book through their local Amex Express Travel Service office or by calling 1-888-559-5576.

The program is ongoing, according to Starwood spokesperson Simon Neggers, who said the launch is timed for the summer and aimed at encouraging guests to sample restaurants at Starwood properties.

“It’s definitely in conjunction with the vacation season,” he said.

American Express is using direct mail and e-mail messages to Gold Card members to build awareness about the Starwood Hotels dining offer. It will also publicize the promotion in its newsletter to Gold Card members and online, on the Gold Card Destinations page and on the front page of the American Express Web site.

The Starwood dining benefit is the latest addition offered through the Gold Card Destinations program, which includes amenities valued at $100 to $150 on virtually any trip from Amex Gold partners.

Value-added vacation amenities for Gold Card members currently include: $100 credit for lift tickets on qualifying vacations from Ski.com; a $100 Amex Express gift cheque from Amex Express Vacations; monogrammed robes, a bottle of champagne and chocolate-covered strawberries on any American Express Mariner Club cruise on the Holland America Line.

Information about the new Starwood dining offer and other Gold Card Destinations programs is available at http://www.americanexpress.com/goldtravel.
