For travelers making trips to the United Kingdom, American Airlines is offering free companion tickets for trips to the area or the Caribbean.

Anyone booking a round trip flight from the U.S. to the U.K. on the airline through Dec. 31 can receive a free companion round-trip ticket with a subsequent round-trip booked from the U.S. to the U.K. or the Caribbean anytime next year.

The offer applies to American Advantage members booking reservations for any class of service. The companion ticket must be booked through American’s Advantage reservations at 1-800-882-8880 and requires a $20 reward ticketing fee.

American Advantage membership enrollment is free.

“We do a promotion to drive traffic to specific routes,” American Airlines spokesperson Billy Sanez said. “I think our business travelers will take advantage of it.”

The U.K. is a popular destination for business travelers, according to Sanez, who said American Airlines wants to increase traffic on its U.K.-bound flights through the remainder of the year.
