Alltel Observes Daytona 500 Win with Free Minutes

Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

Alltel Wireless is offering 500 free minutes to new and existing customers as a way of celebrating Ryan Newman’s dramatic Daytona 500 win in the No. 12 Alltel Dodge Charger.

The limited offer, in effect today through Feb. 24, gives new customers switching to Alltel or current customers signing up for second lines for two-year service plans the free calling time. The bonus minutes are good for 30 days after activation of the plans.

“It’s another way of celebrating Ryan Newman’s win,” said Alltel spokeswoman Lucie Pathman, who added that the promotion is also intended to reinforce Alltel’s identity as a NASCAR sponsor.

Newspaper ads in today’s editions will promote the free minutes deal.

To promote its primary sponsorship of the No. 12 Penske Racing Team, Alltel is also running a “My Circle 500” sweepstakes, podcasts featuring Ryan Newman, an online auction and show car tours at www.alltelracing.com. The sweepstakes, which runs through May 3, offers the chance to win a trip to Charlotte, N.C., to train like the pros, meet Newman and race for up to $500,000.

See Promo Magazine’s March issue for feature coverage of sponsorships around the Daytona 500 and NASCAR.
