Alltel Launches Multi-Faceted NASCAR Campaign

Alltel Wireless is aggressively tooling up its activation plans for sponsorship of the No. 12 Dodge Penske Racing Team.

A “My Circle 500” text-to-win sweepstakes, echoing Alltel’s “My Circle” calling feature, starts Feb. 24 and will give 10 finalists a chance to win $500,000. Finalists will have a chance to take their Circle of Friends on an all-expenses paid trip to Charlotte, NC, on May 23-26 to tour the Penske race shop, and meet driver Ryan Newman and the crew.

Alltel is also running a charity auction online to support the Ryan Newman Foundation and give people a shot at winning memorabilia, including autographed helmets and No. 12 Alltel Dodge panels.

At http://www.Alltelracing.com, fans can tag their cell phones with Ryan Newman downloads or sign up to receive text alerts on race results.

For the third season, Alltel will offer fans a podcast, debuting Feb. 19, featuring Newman and host Brett McMillan with celebrity guest interviews and prizes for listeners.

“It’s not enough to feature our branding on Ryan’s race car. We must intercept fans through traditional media and live interactions to be sure our message breaks through,” said Samira Zebian, Alltel director of sponsorship marketing, in a statement.
