Alltel Gives Amateur QBs A Pass At $100,000

Alltel Wireless is offering college and pro football fans a shot at $100,000 in a group passing competition.

Alltel’s My Circle 1st and 10 Sweepstakes offers fans of 16 sponsored school and pro teams a chance at the big money by texting CIRCLE to 52191 or going online to register at AlltelFootball.com. One person from each team will be selected who will take the field at halftime during 16 Alltel sponsor game days to compete for the prize with a circle of ten friends.

The 10 friends will attempt to complete a succession of 10-yard passes, propelling the potential grand-prize winner closer to the target for his or her final pass. If the grand-prize contestant tosses the ball through the target on the final pass, the group shares a $100,000 prize.

The first 20,000 fans to arrive at the game can redeem vouchers they’ll receive for six months of free Alltel Wireless service with ‘My Circle’ and the new Motorola RAZR V3a phone for 99 cents.

“Fans will be bringing everyone in the stadium to their feet as they take the field and attempt to win a grand prize that can be shared with thousands,” said Laura Cook, Alltel senior vice president of marketing communications, in a statement.

The first My Circle 1st and 10 event will be at North Carolina A&T University’s home game against Delaware State University in Charlotte, N.C. on Oct. 13. Other host teams include Virginia State, Kansas State, University of Texas at El Paso, University of Virginia, University of Arizona, Duke, University of Florida, Michigan State, Clemson, North Carolina State, University of New Mexico, the Arizona Cardinals, New Orleans Saints and Carolina Panthers.

The sweepstakes concludes at the Panthers game against the Seattle Seahawks on Dec. 16. The end dates for the program entry period depends on the date of the game.

Alltel ran a similar promotion last February (Promo Xtra, Feb 1, 2007).
