Alltel $1 Million Sweeps Features Extreme Makeover Tie-in

Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

In its first work since signing Extreme Makeover: Home Edition designer and TV superstar Ty Pennington, Alltel wireless customers are getting the chance to win $1 million to build their own dream home.

Alltel customers can enter the TXT2WIN $1 Million Home Sweepstakes by texting the message “home” to the number “123456.” Once entered, customers can increase their chances of winning every time they send a text, picture, video or instant message. The sweepstakes runs through July 8.

In addition to the grand prize, weekly prizes during the 12-week promotion include: cash payments to cover a single monthly mortgage or rent payment, gift cards redeemable at Sears and Kyocera Wireless Corp. wireless phone carrying cases. As a partner in the promotion, Kyocera products and accessories will be featured throughout the promotion. GMR Marketing, New Berlin, WI, is handling the sweeps.

Consumers can also log in at Allteltxt2win.com to find out how they can text Pennington for home improvement tips.

Last month, Alltel signed Pennington to a two-year sponsorship deal to use the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition icon in initiatives to drive increased usage of Alltel wireless data services offerings.

Alltel also last week unveiled a new corporate logo, its first since 1983, which will be used in all company campaigns, communications and promotions. Scott Ford, Alltel’s president and CEO, said that the new logo will have a more contemporary look and will allow for use of a broader color palette.

Alltel is a customer-focused communications company with more than 13 million customers and $8 billion in annual revenues. Alltel provides wireless, local telephone, long-distance, Internet and broadband services to residential and business customers in 27 states.
