Confi – 1Nov2007 – Ad:Tech New York City 2007 Party List

Fans of Jim Carrey’s movie "The Mask" will recall this, one of my favorite lines, "P-A-R-T-Why? Because I gotta!" And so it is for the ad:tech faithful – Party time, the bonding time that unites the 10,000 or so registrants more than any conference topic could. As we like to do each year before the show, we have gathered a list of the don’t miss destinations.

Sunday, November 4, 2007

Event: No Bull Party
When: 9pm – 1am
Where: Johnny Utah’s NYC | 25 W 51st. St. | NYC NY 10020 (51st. b/t 6th and Park)
Perks: Bull Riding. Free Drinks.
BTYB: XY7.com
RSVP: http://www.xy7.com/nobull/
Comments: We love their use of SMS. Get directions and more info on the party by texting NOBULL to 313131. Also, after you RSVP, they maximize their exposure and your attention by promoting some of their offers. Too bad one had a broken link.

Monday, November 5, 2007

Event: Outperformance Party
When: 8pm – 11pm
Where: Marquee NYC | 289 10th Ave. | NYC NY 10001 (10th b/t 26th & 27th)
Perks: Drinks and Hors d’oeuvres
BTYB: Datran and LeadFlash
RSVP: Invite Only and Strictly Enforced due to venue size
Comments: Perhaps the cleanest sign-up / RSVP process, taking place all within the well designed lander.

Monday, November 5, 2007

Event: Media Whiz Poker Tournament
When: 8:30pm to 12:30am
Where: Club Strata | 915 Broadway | NYC NY 10010 (Bway just south of 21st)
Perks: Bragging rights, drinks, and food
BTYB: Media Whiz and its subsidiaries
RSVP: Invite Only; you can try and sweet talk
rsvp (at) mwcorporate.com
Comments: If you like poker and partying, this is the event for you. Even if you just like partying, you’ll like this one. A hit at Ad:Tech SF this year.

Monday, November 5, 2007

Event: The Money Makers Party
When: 9pm – 2am
Where: Pacha NYC
Perks: Two hour full open bar, impressive guest appearances
BTYB: Jamster, Clickbooth, XY7, Options Media, Rocket Profit, Zanox, PepperJam, EDebitPay, CPA Paradise, Vayan, TheBizOppNetwork, Grey Goose Vodka Francais, Active Response Group, Corzo Tequila, ybrant technologies
RSVP: http://headlinesandheroes.com/pacha/pachaparty.htm
Comments: Could there be more sponsors? It’s a hugely expensive party to put on so better to spread out the costs. RSVPs require a sign-up although this particular sign-up was absurdly unintuitive (if you enter your email address is that enough or do you have sign-up for a newsletter about the party?). Also noteworthy, the party isn’t just brought to you by (BTYB) many companies but the event promoter gets mention and hosts the sign-up. The event promoter though is a niche and seemingly very small clothing company who seems to do a much better job of helping organize parties than promote their clothes. They also have a hand in the XY7 No Bull Party.

Monday, November 5, 2007

Event: The Reverend Vince Anderson and His Love Choir
When: 11pm to 1am+
Where: Black Betty | 366 Metropolitan Ave. | Brooklyn NY 11211
Perks: An intimate and urban live music, funky gospel, experience in Williamsburg
RSVP: None necessary
Comments: No freebies, just the satisfaction of knowing about something the others won’t and having an experience more intimate and perhaps more memorable than the big box party.

Tuesday, November 6, 2007

Event: Ad Femme’s Ad:tech Party
When: 6pm to 8pm
Where: Stone Creek | 140 E. 27th | NYC NY 10016 (27th b/t Lex and 3rd)
Perks: Great people and good times with drinks and a gift bag
BTYB: Ad Femme
RSVP: http://www.adfemme.com/index.php?cent=show&bid=334
Comments: Members Only invited to this swaree.

Steve Hall from Adrants, well, rants, "Apparently, it hasn’t caught on among ad:tech party planners that the conference is four days long this year, not 2 and one half as in year’s past…leaving the third night, Wednesday a ghost town."

There are a few and you can see this and all parties (except XY7 at time of writing) here on his Google Map of both public and private functions. This includes the always fun but not for everyone CPX party and a few client functions such as those by AdBrite and Zillow.

Know of any parties not listed? Let us know!
And… have fun.
