A New Year, Another Year for Internet Media Buzz

JWT and ad tech companies kept making buzz about emerging Internet media technology through the last hours of 2008. The agency cited online video ads, widgets and the decline of e-mail on its list of things to watch for in 2009.

San Francisco-based Blinkx announced the launch Un-roll, new video ad search engine technology on Dec. 29. It overlays targeted ads and logos and interactive calls for viewers to respond to ads as videos are played.

Blinkx reported that 15% of viewers clicked away before videos finished playing in tests and it predicted that click through rates for the format would settle between 3% and 5% over time.

Pixelfire Productions, Renton, WA, plans to launch new interactive advertising technology for cell phones during the Dec. 31 festivities at Times Square in New York.
