Instagram has 1 billion monthly active users across the globe, compared with 800 million users last September. More than 500 million of those users are on the platform daily.
The Instagram app is one of the most popular social networks and Instagram keeps the updates coming to keep users engaged.
In March, Instagram launched “Checkout” as a new way for users to shop on the spot. Users that tap to view a product from a brand’s shoppable post will see a “Checkout on Instagram” button on the product page. Once tapped, various options can be selected such as size or color, and then payment can be made without leaving the app. At the first checkout, customers enter their name, email, billing information and shipping address.
More than 20 major brands signed on to test the service, including adidas, Burberry, Dior, H&M, Kylie Cosmetics, Michael Kors and Zara.
To keep marketers up on the latest Instagram stats, a new infographic lays out 30 stats, including those on demographics, usage and Instagram for business.
For example, under the demographics category, 71 percent of Instagram users are under age 35, 60 percent log in daily, and perhaps surprisingly, 80 percent of users are from outside the U.S.
As for usage, posts with at least one hashtag gain 12.6 percent more engagement, photos gain 36 percent more likes than video content and Cristiano Ronaldo has
the most Instagram followers, followed by Ariana Grande then Selena Gomez.
When using Instagram for business, there are more than 25 million business profiles on the network, over 30 percent of users have purchased something from Instagram using their mobile device and more than 2 million advertisers worldwide use Instagram.
