Western Wats Shuts Call Center, Axing About 100

Western Wats Center Inc. will close its Chadron, NE call center, laying off about 100 employees, according to wire service reports.

The center’s Orem, UT-based parent company attributed this to overall economic conditions.

"As client companies reduce their spending on market research activities during the ongoing global recession, Western Wats has had to make corresponding adjustments to its workforce,” the company said in a prepared statement. “Western Wats has long enjoyed an excellent relationship with the residents of Chadron and hopes to reestablish its presence there once market conditions are more favorable.”
