The Wm. Wrigley Jr. Co. said this week that its chief innovation officer plans to retire after eight years in the job.
Surinder Kumar, 63, was the first person to hold that position. He will retire on July 1. Rob Peterson, Wrigley’s vice president for new products and packaging, has been named to replace him.
Peterson was recently been promoted to vice president of innovation and will work with Kumar over the next six months to handle the transition. In July, Peterson will take on the title of vice president and chief innovation officer and report to CEO William Perez, the company said.
He joined Wrigley in 2006. Prior to that, he led technical organizations at Pactiv, Newell Rubbermaid and Procter & Gamble.
