Travelocity, a Web-based travel agent, had net profits of $6.1 million for 2001, compared with a net loss of $13.7 million in 2000. The Fort Worth, TX-based firm’s revenue rose from $201.3 million to $301.8 million during the year.
For the fourth quarter, the firm had nearly $2 million in net profit, compared with $923,000 in loss a year earlier. Its revenue was $68.1 million, up from the $65.5 million seen in fourth quarter 2000. The quarter and the year ended on Dec. 31.
Despite travel concerns in the wake of Sept. 11’s events, Travelocity said that it had 538,000 unique bookers each month during the fourth quarter, down from the 664,000 it saw during the third quarter of 2001 but up from 525,000 per month it realized a year ago.
